Here at Zymologists we supply sanitary protection for all who may need it from Hey Girls. This is a charitable organisation that aims to end period poverty in the UK.
What is period poverty?
Nearly 50 percent of girls in UK have missed a day of school due to their period, and 1 in 10 women aged 14-to 21 are unable to fund sanitary protection for their periods. This causes a huge amount of shame, educational failure and, ultimately, economic and social loss for all. these young women are unable to keep up with classes and meet their full potential, as their basic needs are not being met. This may be due to financial hardship, or social stigma within their family with makes it difficult for them obtain the fundamental protection that they deserve.
Zymologists provides sanitary pads and tampons free of charge in our bathroom to anyone who needs them, whether they are simply caught short, or because they simply cannot get them any other way. and for every box that we purchase from Hey Girls, we are also funding the purchase of a box to be supplied to a school, to ensure that no girl has to miss a class because she does not have access to sanitary protection at home.
I hope that all of you (period-having or not) feel that this is worthwhile cause, and support it, as it gives dignity to those who do, and see that this has a massive impact on our future as a society as a whole.
During the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Outbreak our bathrooms are out of service to customers. However, if you need an item of sanitary protection, just ask and we will be happy to give it to you for free.
